Closing Lifecycles of Energy Materials:
Bridging Fundamental Mechanisms and Recycling

Our overarching goal is to bridge the gap between fundamental mechanisms and practical recycling or materials for energy conversion and storage technologies.

Energy Conversion Applications

My experience is in perovskite materials for solar cells or solid oxide fuel/electrolysis cells for energy conversion. These emerging materials are promising to face the energy and climate crisis. However, there is a need to focus on their end-of-life challenge. How can we extend their lifetime? How to manage waste? Should we recycle? repurpose? or store?

Understanding Mechanisms by Advanced Characterization

We use synchrotron-based techniques to look into the nano- and atomic-scale properties of materials for their fundamental understanding, leading to the basis for optimized and improved rational design of energy conversion and storage technologies.
